The Ultimate Cabin Crew Packing List
After years of packing for layovers in cities across the world, I've learned exactly what you need — and what you absolutely don't. Whether you're cabin crew or just want to travel like one, this list will transform the way you pack.
The Golden Rules of Crew Packing
- Always use a cabin bag if possible — no waiting at baggage reclaim
- Roll, don't fold — saves space and reduces creases
- Pack for the destination, not the journey
- Keep your essentials in one easy-access pouch
Clothing Essentials
- 2-3 versatile outfits that mix and match
- One smart outfit for nicer restaurants or events
- Comfortable walking shoes and one pair of smarter shoes
- Lightweight jacket or cardigan (planes and hotels are cold)
- Swimwear (you never know)
- Compression socks for long-haul flights
Toiletries & Beauty
- Travel-size skincare — cleanser, moisturiser, SPF
- Hydrating face mist (essential on long flights)
- Dry shampoo
- Solid shampoo bar (no liquid restrictions)
- Minimal makeup — mascara, tinted moisturiser, lip balm
- Reusable cotton pads
Tech & Gadgets
- Universal travel adapter
- Portable power bank
- Noise-cancelling headphones or earbuds
- Kindle or tablet for downtime
- Cable organiser pouch
Health & Wellbeing
- Reusable water bottle
- Melatonin or sleep aid for jet lag
- Eye mask and earplugs
- Basic first aid — paracetamol, antihistamine, plasters
- Electrolyte sachets for hydration
Documents & Admin
- Passport (check expiry!)
- Travel insurance documents
- Copies of hotel bookings and itinerary
- Local currency or travel card
- Emergency contact card
JJ's Secret Crew Hacks
- Pack a foldable tote bag for shopping and day trips
